The Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) and RMIT University are partners on a journey to make the modern world a place that is fair and functional, where people are empowered to thrive and supported to live their best lives.
VCOSS, as Victoria’s peak social advocacy body and the representative organisation of the state’s booming community sector, has unique insights into contemporary social challenges, policy dilemmas and opportunities for advancement and growth.
For more than 70 years, VCOSS has facilitated social change by representing and advocating for the incredible contribution of community sector organisations to be recognised, sustained and adequately funded.
RMIT University is a leader in applied research and education, boasting strong industry links forged over its 130-year history.
It was this strong and shared mission that lead to the creation of the Future Social Service Institute.
FSSI supports not-for-profit and social service organisations to be service-delivery leaders at a time of major growth and disruption. Most importantly, the Institute will provide those in the most need of support and assistance with the ability to pursue a good life, through the backing of a highly-skilled and growing workforce, and a responsive and innovative social sector.
The Future Social Service Institute represents the first time anywhere in the world a top-tier university and a social service peak have come together and collaborated at such scale.
FSSI is a jointly run by VCOSS and RMIT University, with generous support from the Victorian Government.
